  • Saturdays Here

    Good morning? Hello? Hello?

Apparently vacation has been doing it's job. Shannon dug out a math book and is enjoying herself.

Earlier I asked the children what they would choose to study about for a week.

    Math

    Gold

    Rockets

    Counting by twos

If July is at all slow, we just may slip in a week of 'unschooling'. Or self directed learning. Or just 'general' knowledge.

We just don't get over learning.

Sound like some good subjects. My daughter would probably pick gold and my son would probably pick counting by twos...he can already count by twos all the way up to two. He refuses to say one! = )

I think we are going to break out some books and read together more this week.

"Or just greneral knowledge."  Or maybe spelling.  Heh

@Suzyquekau -  I'm not really known for my perfection.

We do something similar in the month of December.  I use that book "What Every First (or whatever) Grader Should Know" and they aren't required to do anything but listen have discuss things afterward.  Last December we learned about the pyramids and mummies, tongue twisters and children's literature, instruments in an orchestra, famous paintings and their artists, etc.  Stuff that our home school curriculum doesn't cover.

@tea_lady - LOL  yeah me either in a lot of things,  but I'm ridiculous about spelling.  I have kids that can't spell their way out of a paper bag (unless they stop and think) so they didn't get that anal gene.  =)
